Own A Piece Of Italian Beauty Buy a property in the countryside in the Veneto region of Italy, an area which is loved by the Italians but little known to Brits. This New homes have just been released in a unique location in northern Italy, which is currently little known to the British market place.

Este and the surrounding villages in the Veneto region of Italy are much loved by the Italians but rarely visited by the British. However, the region offers easy access from the UK, with a wide choice of budget and other airlines to two airports in Venice, and although this area is off the tourist track it is by no means remote.

There are trains from this area to Venice, making a day trip to this beautiful city ideal. Este is also surrounded by countryside with acres of vines producing wines such a Prosecco, a sparkling white, and the red, full-bodied Amarone.

"This is almost like launching a new region. Properties are competitively priced with a mixture of rural restored properties and attractive city centre apartments," said Linda Travella of Casa Travella an estate agent which has sold Italian homes to British buyers for over 20 years. "Without a doubt you are buying in a country which is established and are therefore not taking a risk in these uncertain times. Italy has a proven property track record of many years, an excellent infrastructure and of course, it's steeped in culture and history."

Arqua Petrarca, another village in the Veneto region has preserved the unchanged glamour of medieval times. It gained importance when Francesco Petrarca, a 12th-century Italian poet, spent the last years of his life in the serene quietness of this location. For the gourmet the region offers fine wines, cheeses and the famous Pandoro cake from Verona. There are numerous activities available including cycling and walking and of course an opportunity to visit numerous, quaint, unspoilt villages hardly ever on the UK tourist map such as Montagnana and Monselice.

There are also thermal towns like Abano Terme in the Euganean Hills which are always extremely popular. In addition you are not remote and can benefit from the excellent and affordable Italian train service to Venice, Padova and Vicenza to name but a few. Casa Travella currently has properties available in the walled town of Este, which boasts enchanting Venetian architecture. A central villa with shady promenades and gardens has now been restored to create a complex of one and two-bedroom apartments with shared gardens and three-bedroom villas with private gardens. Prices start at €260,000 (£203,000).
