French Wines Go Green

green-winesFrench wine lovers will be pleased to hear that you can now enjoy your favourite tipple with less damage to the environment, as one of Languedoc-Roussillon's top wine brands is now transporting its bottles using 'green energy'. Sud de France sponsored the first shipment of 'green energy' wines on Friday 25th July into Dublin's Custom House Quay. The groundbreaking shipment of 30 wines, exclusively from the Languedoc-Roussillon region, was carried on the 108 year old Kathleen & May tall ship, and is part of an ongoing campaign to improve the brand's green credentials.

Each of the 30,000 bottles transported saved 4.9 oz of carbon emissions. Sud de France spokesperson Elodie Le Dran said: "Sud de France winemakers work with great respect for the environment to produce authentic, premium quality products, so sponsoring this back-to-nature initiative is a natural progression for the brand".

Further shipments of Sud de France wines to other destinations worldwide are planned, and a wine route to Canada carrying 5,000 cases per month to Montreal will start in autumn this year.
