The " emperor" loved his child, and when he heard of her capture he made no further resistance, but quitting a monastery in which he had fortified himself, he placed himself at once in the power of Richard, fell at his feet, and prayed that his daughter might be restored to him. Cccurde-Lion refused the request, and committed him to prison, directing that, in consideration of the rank ho assumed, he should be bound with chains of silver instead of iron.
