Greek investors benefiting from increased access and blue flag beaches.
The Greek property market has recently received a double boost - firstly from the much anticipated and highly welcomed increase in the number of flights this summer between the UK and the Greek islands of Crete, Rhodes, Corfu and Mykonos.
Easier access to these islands will come as good news to property owners, both those looking for quicker transfer times to get to their holiday homes, and those with buy-to-let properties on the islands; greater accessibility traditionally leads to increased tourism and higher returns on investment property.
The Greek tourist industry received a further boost with the country's excellent performance in the 2007 Blue Flag awards. Its gorgeous blue seas and miles of untouched coastline took home 430 Blue Flags, the second highest of any country.
Blue Flag awards are presented to beaches and marinas that adhere to a number of strict criteria, including compliance with water quality standards and recyclable waste facilities.
